GENERAL INFORMATION

We are a campsite for kids, usually having larger groups from around 40 to 100 people. We are a non profit organization that has been running for more than 50 years. The later years we have been using Work Away and other online sites, to find volunteers that want to help out with the daily tasks. Situated close to the sea (Oslo-fjord) and with a lot of buildings not beeing insulated, our high season is from april to october. In that period the tasks is mosly cooking and cleaning for camps, but also a lot of maintanance, fixing, building, gardening og painting. We try to put together a team from 6-8 volunteers. In between camps we also have to mow the lawn and make sure that the large outdoor areas look presentable. In the the later part of the season and the off season (november - march) We usually are doing bigger upgrades and and renovation projects. The size of the project will be important for how many volunteers we need, but we have been everything from 4-12 volunteers working here in the winter period. For that period we are looking for people with carpentry, painting or other skills and people not afraid of getting hands dirty as we do all of the work ourselves.

Accomodation and food

We have 4 cabins and 4 rooms in the mainhouse for volunteers to use. Both cabins and rooms are pretty simple and a bit old, but very charming. They all have electricity and heaters for the colder days. You have to share bathrooms and kitchen with other volunteers. Usually you would eat a lot of leftovers from camp, but we also provide for all basic food and if you have a special diet or allergies.

When we have guests we need everyone to follow a strict schedule. It is usually 2 persons on every shift and we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. While the guest are here we are doing refilling and cleaning the toilets, but we only clean rooms and common areas between camps. All shifts are 5 hours and you have to work 5 shifts a week. In periods without booking we usually work together monday to friday, 5 hours each day.
